Question: Can earth enter in a black hole?

Keywords:

  1. I think technically that’s possible, but as far as I’ve read it would need really huge and apparently there are not that many like that around the universe (lucky for us!).
Scientists actually think that some relatively small black holes did hit the Earth while it was forming and they think that even now if we hit a small one that wouldn’t cause any damage.
Also black holes are really hard to detect…until they hit you!
I’m not an expert, but according to scientists we really don’t need to worry about that too much.

  2. I think earth could easily enter the black holes that we now of. Luckily almost all of them are located in the center of a galaxy, and since we are in one of the outskirts of our milky way, even the nearest black hole is very very far away and we don’t need to worry about it. But…theoretically, if we would come close to this black hole then yes, we would be sucked in and…well no one knows actually what would happen because we can’t see what happens inside, but i have the feeling it won’t be pretty 😉

  3. I agree with Bas and Alice. I think if Earth were to get too close to a black hole then we would probably be destroyed. But the nearest black holes are so far away that I think we will be safe for a long time!
