Question: Did you ever had a broken bone on a expedition?

  1. No, luckily that has never happened to me!
I’ve actually been quite lucky so far and the only bone I’ve broken is a really small one at the base of my thumb (in a very silly way: I was playing volleyball at a birthday party!!)

  2. Hi amg7,

No. I once twisted badly my ankle, but I did not break any bone, fortunately. But it is always a risk that you might be aware of. It is not a good idea to go alone into an expedition, or with no phone.

  3. Uuf, fortunately nothing very bad happened to me so far, nor to one of my colleagues. Especially on remote places, and many times that’s where the nicest rocks are, it can be quite difficult to find medical assistance. That’s also why we always go prepared with helmets, etc. and medical aid.

  4. oh yes! i am really clumsy!

last year I was teaching in Scotland and I told my students to be careful because if they fell over they would hurt themselves. I then immediately fell over and broke my hand. it was so painful!

I have also broken both arms and my foot playing rugby, but that wasn’t on field work so maybe it doesn’t count?
