Question: If I want to, what could I do with a minor in Geosciences?

  1. Well, a minor does not qualify to work directly. You will need a major to become a professional in Earth Sciences. However, you will enjoy it and it might be of utility if you decide to do a major in engineering or similar.

  2. I think this depends on what you major in. there are loads of possibilities with geosciences degrees! you can get into the oil and gas industry, mining exploration, natural hazard studying, improving damaged or contaminated land, engineering, teaching….

if you did a major in something like chemistry or engineering then you could definitely do a geosciences career combining those two things! 🙂

  3. I think you would have a few of options and then you could always decide to specialise more with a major.
You could work for an environmental agency or surveying companies and also hydrocarbon exploration. There are several big and famous companies which provide surveying and geotechnical related services (FUGRO is an example). I think you could probably find an entry-level job in one of those even with a minor. They normally have really good training programmes.
