Question: why did you study science?

  1. Hi sugay1,

Let me put it this way: I really liked Geography in school and wanted to study something related to the environment. So I started to study georesource management, which is a mix of Geology, Geography, and Business. Soon I found out that Geology itself was so cool with all the rocks and earthquakes and mountain building, and that there was so much to discover and learn, that I studied Geosciences.

    All the best,
    Andi

  2. Hi!
I’d say that I have always liked science in school, but actually I was also really fond of languages and art.
What really fascinates me about science are all the complicated processes at play in our climate system and all the mysteries from the past. As scientists we are making baby steps towards understanding of all this a little better, but there is always so much more to learn.
At university I started learning more about oceanography and climate and I think that my love for the ocean and anything sea-related is probably what really made me want to keep studying. The other thing that really attracted me is geology and the study of ancient climates…and I still love that!

  3. I have been always really passionate about Earth and planets. I was also a dinosaur fan, specially after watching Jurassic Park. I had like a big collection of dinosaur books. LAter on I was doubting if my path were physics or Geology, but I decided geology for a reason. In geology your lab is the world and you can actually touch the rocks, you can feel the planet shaking and erupting, whereas in physics you play more with the computer than with the boots!
